      Sounds like just a replacement for Google assistant. I’m not excited about this at all, but short of latency issues, I’m not sure that it would be any worse than assistant. I’ve never found assistant to be very good and gets hung up on a requirement for very specific command phrases.

        I tried Gemini and it periodically failed to set timers and reminders. When I asked it the date next Tuesday, it got the answer wrong. 🤷‍♂️

    Damn that thing is weird. It misunderstood “what’s up?” and opened WhatsApp. I asked it to open another app and it replied:

    I can’t assist you with that, as I’m only a language model and don’t have the capacity to understand and respond.

    I thought “understand and respond” was the whole point but ok…

    Then I asked it to open GitHub.com and it say yeah sure: here’s Google map.

    That thing is way too stupid to be used as an assistant.

    Gemini a no go for me just for the simple fact you need to unlock your phone to get a response. At the point I’m lifting my phone it’s easier to just do whatever myself.
