When I got out of the Army and went home, I saw a lot of neighbors that I used to hang out with. I asked them what they’d been up to and this was the only answer I ever got back. It was crazy to me considering just how much stuff I had done since the last time I saw them. Traveling, training, learning an entire career, serving, partying, vacations, competitive athletic events. My life had been full of new experiences and these people had done “nothing”. The contrast was shocking.
TBF that’s my default answer when I’m put on the spot. I ran into a friend from highschool this week and they asked the same. While the answer should have been “I’ve lived and worked in some really neat places since I saw you last”, my brain just spit out “oh, not much”.
