Fallout was the first time they showed me ads and made their service less convenient than piracy. Now I dont even bother. If they have something I am interested in I DL it. I still have a subscription since it comes with my item delivery service.

Here i was hoping that it had popped back up.
they want to bring in the most money and expend the least effort. I can respect that.
Policing customers/users is a PITA and generally sux to do even on the smaller scale of an office. Much cheaper and easier to do nothing.
the Canadian government REQUIRES you to use Adobe reader to sign PDFs in order to immigrate to canada
This took a few frustrated attempts to discover for me. Moved to Canada last year and while I am a citizen my wife and kids are not. There was a lot of paperwork to fill out and submit and having repeated issues with documents not opening and seeming not to exist was crazy making. I dont normally install Adobe anything on my computers but decided it was worth a try…
Bright side of the story is that after less than a year the family is now all legal and have their PR cards. The Canadian gov can be refreshingly efficient sometimes.
Technically correct, which is the best kind.
Krita is amazing
I had typed a comment that I thought would be amusing, decided it really it was a rather unfunny low effort post and so immediately deleted it.

I have actually taken to downloading 1080p versions of things I have access to in 4kHDR from Disney and Amazon. Frankly I can not stand HRD/Dolby Vision versions of things. No matter how I adjust my TV they still suffer from that ghastly soap-opera effect. To me having the background bright and in focus flattens the image making everything look like a bad set. It also makes the tiny differences in lighting of digital effects elements more noticeably.
I hate it.
Getting it from my server securely to their TV is the issue.
you could put it on a thumb drive and drive it over if they live fairly close
or drop it in the mail if they dont.
So this is not running Windows apps on linux, but displaying them on your linux desktop. You still need to run Windows in a VM.
Yes, very easy to create the VPN, but hard to hide your identity when your billing is attached to both ends.
I remember buying a region unlocked DVD player that would also play DIVX discs. I just recently got rid of it when i moved and cleaned out my garage.
Everything’s out of control and the corps are doing it from pole to pole.
I used the free version of Proton for a while, but when I decided to start paying I went with Surfshark. They were the best deal at the time and their client works well with the Windows, Android and Linux devices I have used it on. I have encountered some annoying “prove you are human” prompts when using Google Search so I mostly use DuckDuckGo.
Had some good times drinking Warp Core Breaches at Quarks Bar in Vegas back when I was young and fun.
When that song came out it hit 19yr old me HARD. I am now 51 and it still does.
LMStudio is excellent for downloading and running local models. Performance and quality are vastly improved since the first versions of LLMs came out. I get near instant responses on my laptop with only a GTX1650 in it.
With that said, they still fail to produce much of value. YMMV
I have D+ here in Canada and have never seen an ad. It is actually a pretty good deal here as it includes STAR (hulu equivalent). I only watch it on my TV but I dont think it would be any different on mobile as it is still the D+ app.
