If people insist on DDT I aquiesce.

No. Fuck them. If I’m get a Spring Forward I’m owed a goddamned Fall Back. I spend half a year with an hour’s deficit so people going home to watch Netflix after work can pretend they give a damn about an extra hour of sunlight.

Give me Standard Time or pay to move my ass to the West a couple hundred miles to fix it.

  • We shouldn’t specifically have Election Day off work. Everyone should get one paid day off in the period of early voting or election day. It’ll prevent the hours-long wait times at the polls on election day and allow businesses to stay in operation by spreading out the time when workers are off to vote.

I’d prefer it even more if the money for the vacation time were paid by the government, but only of the person actually votes. Otherwise, you’ll just find a bunch of cruise specials around election season meant to capitalize on the extra vacation time, and voter turnout won’t be significantly impacted.

  • Same for lots of jobs here.

Honestly, Wednesday and Thursday are the worst days for Christmas for those of us who also get Christmas Eve because they’re the only days that don’t result in 4 days in a row off from work.

If it’s on a Friday, we get Thursday through Saturday. If it’s on a Saturday, Sunday, or Monday, they give us Friday through Monday, and if it’s on a Tuesday, they give us Saturday through Tuesday.

But this year, we’re off Saturday and Sunday, work Monday, are off Tuesday and Wednesday, and return to work on Thursday.

It’s the same total number of days off, but it’s way less useful - especially if travel is involved.

  • As much as I enjoy shitting on McDonald’s, I don’t think McDonald’s corporate had anything to do with this. I’m pretty sure this was a franchise.

That being said, McDonald’s may need to revisit some of the restrictions in their franchise agreements with regard to direct participation in political campaigns. A candidate visiting a location is one thing, but this restaurant directly arranged and participated in this nonsense.
