FF16. I’m talking about running quality mode (which still doesn’t guarantee native 4K it does upscaling lot of the time) at higher FPS than 30 with a better PS5 Pro hardware.

Yeah but some games like Final Fantasy run at 30 FPS capped and they suck.
They should start moving those games from fixed 30 FPS to a higher FPS. Doesn’t even need to be fixed 60 FPS. If they enable VRR between 30 and 60/120 they will massively improve the experience.
I understand that some TVs can run VRR down to 20 or 30Hz.
Honestly I prefer this to Microsoft Edge stealing (importing) all my chrome passwords and bookmarks without my consent. Something they do from time to time.
After Microsoft Edge decided to import all my chrome passwords and data I decided to get rid of windows as much as possible.
I think that upgrading it with just 22% faster processor is kind of killing it.
The current CCWGTV performance sucks.
The CCWGTV performance is a shit at 4K. The UI is far from smooth, some UHD shows randomly drop frames and sometimes I have to restart the device because Netflix and prime stop working.
Eventually I’ll replace it, if the new device sucks I might try apple TV.
I mean it’s a tiny device after all.
I also now have an HDR 4K 144Hz VRR OLED TV so it would be nice to get a device that supports this max resolution (like the PS5).
I can’t remember… But I do remember that most people mentioned better battery life.
The ones that didn’t find better battery life are less but they exist and maybe this is because it depends on regional aspects or system configuration.
I wonder if there are any gains on the Pixel 5. I heard on the Pixel 6/7 some people got better battery life.
For just the data. There is a developer settings “keep mobile data always active” something like that.
But i think it made little difference for me in terms of battery drain so I leave it on.
At the end, in my case after trying dozens of settings, battery drain for me is just handled by whatsapp and how crazily the app decides to start spamming the phone with wakelocks at certain times. Android/Google barely do something to cripple this app wakelocks.
I’m not going to start raising bugs because this is an alpha and there is no time for bug fixing at the moment.
But sending this comment from the app (editing from the desktop). I’m really happy to be browsing Lemmy with my account and my favourite Reddit app. And the smoothest one.
I basically enable compact layout as default. Then I change post title size to small (so I can fit more posts at once) and I’m good to go! (There are probably a few more configs I change like material ui, etc, but those are secondary).
I think you should create a community for the app. It looks already good. There are probably lot of potential users that would join to discuss.
Thank you Dev!
Maybe it’s the same case. But my carrier is so medieval that charges me 15€ everytime I need to print a new QR code to pair my esim with a device and they only issue this in a physical form. So this is why I would not give it a shot haha.
I sometimes want to do it on my old devices like the Pixel 4 at home. But they are daily used.
And then sometimes I’m tempted in finding out what mods are there. For example in the Pixels you can change the background usage to “Restricted” but you can’t change to “Denied” (so app can’t do anything in background). And I understand some devices have this functionality. I think Samsung has it. (Restricted doesn’t do shit with some apps like Instagram and TikTok).
You can still install LineageOS and probably get even more standby battery life (because I bet their build is more clean than Google’s. Google and Pixel launcher together are taking 7% of my battery life with more than a day of background usage).
However the issue for me is that I like to keep the bootloader closed in case my phone is stolen. And I think with LineageOS they don’t recommend doing that. So this is one of the reasons I never tried to install it in my wife’s pixel 4.
The other reason is the time to restore all the apps, backup, check if the esim is still there and not deleted (it’s a pita to get a new esim with my carrier) and all that kind of stuff.
FF16 in quality mode runs at 1440p 30 FPS locked upscaled to 4K. And it decreases resolution sometimes in my experience while playing it.
And in performance mode runs at 1080p targeting 60 FPS. The lower resolution it’s very noticeable.
Both modes can be improved by better hardware. That’s my point.
Now things like “30 FPS locked, sucks” or performance mode targeting 1080p is not enough quality is just my personal opinion. Of course some people enjoy 30 FPS or 1080p on a 4K big TV. I personally try to avoid 30 fps locks OR very low resolution performance modes. Games like GT7 or Warzone that can handle lot of FPS at a high resolution (on the current PS5 hardware) are the ones I don’t complain at all and truly enjoy. And in those 2 games I wouldn’t care about upgrading to better PS hardware.
