Leave off the word “metre” and it doesn’t matter whether you’re using metres or cm. You’re “one eighty-six”. Is that a lazy way of saying “one [hundred and] eighty-six”, quite common when talking about numbers in the hundreds, or the lazy way of saying “one [metre] eighty-six [centimetres]”, a common shorthand similar to shortening “six [feet] five [inches]”? Of your other theories, without having rewatched the episode recently enough to remember it, I like your idea that there may be enlisteds’ kids on board but that mentioning enlisteds wasn’t relevant at the time. I feel like the additional new assumptions are the fewest with that option.

Yeah the PHB for D&D 5th edition only had half-orcs as a playable race, but they added a full orc race with the 2016 Volo’s Guide to Monsters. idk about the 5e remaster though because I haven’t played or been interested in following the news of D&D since about mid 2022. I’m a little sad that that book took so long to arrive that I had gone from never even considering moving to another system (other than for some fun temporary one-shots & small campaigns to add variety) to basically not being able to imagine myself choosing to go back to D&D at all, between the time I paid for it and when it finally arrived 5 months ago. Because I really did love the idea of it when it was being Kickstarted.

I think that’s largely a consequence of the 5e design in general. It doesn’t leave a lot of room, natively, for exciting challenges from its monsters. You’ve got to go to third parties, like Colville’s “action-oriented monsters”, or other systems like PF2, to get that.

Lol wtf are you talking about? No they don’t. Everyone telling them they are wrong is being prescriptive. All they are doing is saying “it’s not wrong to use a word according to an incredibly common definition of that word”. Which is precisely the opposite of prescriptive.

Oh yeah I know it’s theoretically possible. I’ve just never heard of it actually being done, for payments specifically, by banks. Using Google Pay doesn’t restrict you from also using any of those other use cases: you’re not giving anything up in terms of flexibility of functionality.

Yeah Garmin Pay is the equivalent on Garmin smartwatches. Unfortunately it’s not as widely supported by banks (at least where I live) as Google and Apple Pay are.

Oh interesting. Where I am if you go over the limit (usually $100), you just have to input your PIN. But $100 is enough to get up to some serious trouble, considering it’s a per-purchase limit.

And I’ve both never heard of banks using the NFC directly (as opposed to using Google, Apple, Garmin etc. Pay), and wouldn’t trust them in the slightest with it even if they did offer it, because they’re not exactly known for great security. (And I’ll take security over privacy any day.)

It’s still safer. They can steal your wallet and pay for anything trivially. If they steal your phone, they have to be able to unlock it to pay with it.

If it’s the same video I watched last night, it’s literally just a bunch of former Star Trek actors on Cameo saying “lower decks” over and over again. I think it’s because yes, the show has announced its 5th season will be its last, but fans want it to keep going because it’s by far the best thing about modern Trek.
