I counter the hypothetical with an actual reality!

The current rate of resource consumption by the human race guarantees complete and total collapse of anything resembling todays human society within the next 50 years, followed by a near extinction level population crash.

The surviving societies would then have no way left to re-enter the industrial age, as all easily accessible natural resources were mined out long ago, and they would lack the technology needed to access deeper veins/wells/etc.

This is not hypothetical, this is actually going to happen and humanity has said “we don’t give a shit”. This is not doomerism, this is proven scientific fact.

Climate scientists have been screaming and shouting about this for decades trying to get anyone to listen. We are way way way too late to stop it now.

Might as well enjoy some bluefin tuna before they go extinct too.

  • This saga has moved fast so I don’t blame you, just an FYI Intel has issued a statement saying the microcode update “will” fix all affected CPUs (it won’t, because the damage is physical) and will not be issuing a recall.

We are witnessing one of the more obvious end-game states of capitalism. Intel continues to state they don’t give a single shit about this issue, and will not do anything about it.

The corporate nihilism will continue until the collapse. More and more companies will act like this because why does anything matter when we can profit more today?

  • It literally states the program is due to a deformation of the switch, a physical issue.

I’m sure there are ways to safely engineer around it. I don’t trust any American manufacturer to do so. What guarantee do we have that it won’t continue deforming further after the fix? What happens to the patched sensor software if it does occur?

Do you unironically trust Musk enough to not open your vehicles hood at 80mph?

Really not sure why so many people on this post are having trouble understanding that concept. Maybe they want to justify their $80k paperweight lmao.

Generally speaking, police dogs are trained to alert on command and are not used for actual investigation.

Yes, SAR dogs exist and properly trained dogs exist as well. However, the overwhelming evidence shows dogs are not a reliable tool when used by police.

Welcome to the downfall of an empire.
