You know, I think it’s interesting how this used to be considered the nutjob’s territory just a bit over 10 years ago. And now, at least for the USA, this might be the thing that keeps you out of jail.
It’s kinda frightening
We’re about to see a fascist america, and this is what you’re worried about?
Do you also feel bad for the Nazis in pre-war germany who got harmed? Or even killed? Chances are you don’t
Our world is about to become very different to what we’re used to. Get ready for it. Playing nice won’t win you the war

About that… https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/fox-fred-rogers-evil/
Mr. Rogers had, they claimed, destroyed an entire generation with his liberal notions of entitlement. As the originator of the snowflake concept, he was an “evil, evil man.” The show’s moderators cited unnamed “experts” and a professor at Louisiana State University.
But have you considered that the action of changing the time requires you to make a choice, get up, shift context, actually do it, then shift back, tiring you out?

AI has been used for these things for decades, they are just in the background and not noticed by laypeople
Though the biggest issue is that when people say “AI” today, they mean specifically LLMs, but the world of AI is so much larger than that
You can explode without turning into pieces, though
I mean, small things like that add up, you want your stack as optimized as possible
A quarter of a second here, another quarter there, and suddenly it might take 2 seconds longer for a connection to form, which matters a ton. A lot of work in the modern web is going into reducing latency
Spoken like a true non-minority
Well, there’s a reason old ships had people high up as scouts. These days we just use radar and gps
Also, on a final note…
Why the fuck would you limit yourself to only human senses when you have the capability to add more of any sense you want??
If you have the option to add something that humans don’t have, why wouldn’t you? As an example, humans don’t have gps either, but it’s very useful to have in a car
I’d rather have a future than pay 5% less for whatever it is I currently want
A browser, which is like the prime attack vector for malware and other nasty stuff, having direct memory access is so hilarious in hindsight
These days you try to sandbox everything as much as possible in the browser since the internet is like the least trusted environment there is
Indeed, and the reason why I think the incompleteness theorems are the nail in the coffin, is that otherwise you could at least prove that certain sets of axioms worked together, then you’d have some basis for the math you use, even if it was self-referential
But it turns out that is impossible, and what we choose as our foundation for the math we use is pretty much arbitrary. Although of course we have reasons to use what we use
Godel’s second theory of incompleteness states that a formal system cannot prove its own consistency
I think that’s as close as you can get to “math is not objective”
We already know that math isn’t objective due to Godel’s incompleteness theorem
I do find it amazing that it was literally easier to send humans to the moon than faking it in 1969
Like, isn’t that an astonishing fact?
Well, sure, you could, but would you rather write that a substance has a pH value of 11, or the absolute value, which is the hydrogen ion molar concentration, which would be 0.00000000001?
https://www.fondriest.com/environmental-measurements/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/ph_units.jpg
Especially since what we consider the neutral point, is a pH value of 7 (pure water). So then, for an example, if you have 3 substances, they have the values of 0.0000043, 0.00000003, and 0.0000005. are they acidic? Or basic? It’s really difficult to tell at a glance.
And sure, you could have a different measurement like set water as 0 and positive are acids and negative are bases or something, but then you just move further away from the actual definition of acidity.
Then again, discord is not outright fascist. Yes it’s a shitty company, but shitty companies are the standard
Twitter though? I feel as if a lot more people could go “if you want to ever talk with me again, go here” and people would follow. It’s a bit harder to argue for staying on twitter when all of this shit is going on
Then again, a lot of my friends are still on twitter despite me telling how fucking dangerous that site is now, so eh. I don’t really get it, though. Then again, I have little sympathy for people who complain that something is too complex just because it doesn’t do literally everything for you. A lot of people are just addicted to convenience, despite it harming them in the long run
