It would be a hellscape of credit card companies trying to stop accounts because you order 18 pizzas off the dominos app in Georgia, and another 13 sandwiches in the burger king app at the same time in Jersey.

We need to have the freedom to load apps we trust, but if you look at the standard user base, that’s who they have to make the phones for.

Because most people pirating are doing it for their own personal entertainment while these companies are doing it to build a commercial product for sale. Pirates that sell access to their collections get a lot of negative attention, even from other people who pirate like me.

I fear the courts will side with the tech companies on this as regardless of how illegal or immoral a certain act is, if you do it on a large enough scale it becomes “okay” again in the eyes of the system. Genocide, large scale fraud, negligent financial actions, pollution/poisoning, etc. You dump toxic chemicals into one person’s cup and you get the book thrown at you. You dump toxic chemicals into an entire city’s water supply and you pay a paltry fine that is never enough to seriously damage the company because that’s bad for the economy.

I think you may have a much more generous understanding of the current capabilities of AI than what it’s actually capable of. It isn’t Data from Star Trek.

People use it because that’s where the sellers are at. I also liked Craigslist before but Facebook ate their lunch plus one slight advantage from marketplace is seeing who you’re buying from beforehand. It makes it a lot easier to weed out fake listings when you see someone just created their account this year or if they have bad ratings.

Vehicle listings are absolute garbage though as the filtering options are super basic or ridiculous like you can filter by the color of a car but not engine size. I don’t know of a single person who searches for cars/trucks based on their color.

Same experience here with any Samsung TV made in the last 10 years. I bought a cheap 40" Samsung in 2010 that worked perfect for a decade, but after buying a new one I had problems immediately with it not recognizing inputs, scrambled screen occasionally when I turn it on, and the menu sticking on screen occasionally.

My BIL has gone through probably 4 separate Samsung QLED TVs in the last several years because they keep breaking on him (coincidentally his kids have also been over the last few days doing laundry because their Samsung washer and dryer is broken for the hundredth time).

I also recently bought an LG OLED (C3) and it’s the best TV I’ve ever used.

Samsung products are just pure garbage now and have been on a steady decline over the last 10 years.

Life changing but not necessarily for the better.
