I haven’t had a gaming system.in over 10 years and I was so glad I got the steam deck. It just worked out of the box, no messing around having to set anything up or play around with settings.

I bought a few games, downloaded them and everything has been seamless. Its been the most worthwhile purchase I’ve made in quite some time.

So you’re a good person but people doing OF aren’t?? Just start an OF and get over yourself.

I’ve been using Pop for years, I just feel like its always worked so well for me and never given me any major gripes. Web browsing, playing a few basic games, editing documents and even recently setting up another home server with it for media streaming with Jellyfin.

I’m a big advocate for any OS which works well out the box and is mostly hands off once configured!

If PopOS isn’t your thing you’ll find it eventually 🙂

So true, this really highlights the risk of updates impacting critical systems vs critical systems being exposed to critical vulnerabilities. Its a real balancing act.

I remember learning about this in the early 00’s but then the textbooks were saying about this newer memory technology which the world has moved to known as DDR! Makes me feel so old now 👵

You wanna talk Chinese spyware, why are they not outright banning Temu? That’s a much better documented case of actually being spyware.

In terms of Tiktok being spyware, they are tracking users in much the same ways that every other big social media company is. Should other nations be worried about Facebook sharing that data with the US govt to produce psyops campaigns against foreign nations?

I’m against any country blocking access to things in the name of “national security” and providing little to no evidence on it. Its been done too many times to trojan horse in other malicious activities that governments want to do.

I’m an idiot so excuse me if this is just way too simple. If you’re able to remove DRM and get the file, is it not just possible to copy the content out of the file and make a brand new file?

I know I’m probably over simplifying things but I know if I’m paranoid about stuff like exif data in an image, if I’m in a pinch I’ll just screenshot the original image instead.

Can someone explain to me why I want the video proxied vs the video coming directly from YT via a front end? I’ve used YouTube Vanced in the past and it was awesome when it worked

Is streamio similar to Kodi? I used to use that back in the day and it was good, then suddenly it got super popular and a bunch of the plugins were taken down/blocked by ISP’s and I moved back to torrenting
