John Wayne played so many characters named “John” or “Duke.” So many that I just tried to count how many roles and I lost track. I counted twice and got two different numbers, but I believe my final tally is 39 roles where his character had at least one of those 2 names.
EDIT: Final tally:
36 - “John” or “Johnny”
3 - “J” first initial, no full name given
5 - “Duke”
Bruce Almighty? His most memorable role.
The killing process on Windows used to work better. Since about Windows 8 it’s not been quite the same.
Is this how those people ended up with random piercings/earrings all over their body? Like Xerxes in 300.
The Drew Carrey Show just finally got a streaming release a couple months ago. On Plex. All 9 seasons now.
Yes. I once saw an episode of Maury where a man found out he wasn’t the genetic father of his 1 year old daughter, and he started crying and then punching the floor. Is that toxic masculinity or is that a person being sad?
I’ve seen this reposted at least 3 times now, and it bothers me each time because we have no idea the story behind it. We only know what’s written down, we don’t even know if the person who wrote the caption witnessed the event. Was it fragile masculinity? Perhaps?
That was the joke.
Aren’t the majority of English speakers from the US?
EDIT: The USA has 3x the population of the UK and Australia combined and the USA appears to be the home of approx 60% of native English speakers. However there are billions of speakers if you include it as a 2nd language. Which Americans don’t speak 2nd languages so we obviously don’t count that.
I’m at the stage where if I sit around too much it starts to hurt, but if I make healthy choices and exercise everything is still fine. It’s like my body requires healthy choices. Wasn’t like that before.
But in numerous captain’s logs Janeway explains how their adventures weren’t a delay at all, and actually saved them lots of time.
Maybe I’m explaining the joke, but Jon is supposed to be an Everyman.
I’m a huge long-term fan of the Garfield comics. Lyman basically ditches Jon with Odie. It’s never explained in detail because it’s a 3 frame comic. More optimistically, and “cannon” Jon was enthusiastic about inheriting Odie while Lymon left for unexplained reasons. Jon thought owning a dog would help him meet women.
As for the quote you referenced. Garfield has thought bubbles. Jon talks. Lyman exists because he can talk while Garfield can only “think”. Jim Davis originally thought it would be confusing to have thought clouds and talk bubbles interacting. Like how does a cat talk with a person? But that quickly became the norm in the comic. Once talking and thinking could interact, Lyman no longer needed to exist.
Rare appearance of Jon’s friend Lyman, who doesn’t appear in hardly anything after 1980.
The metric system is a tool of the devil! My car gets 40 rods to the hogshead and that’s the way I likes it.
Happened in 1991 but not uploaded until 2009. Mirrors the plot of Minority Report (2002). Like he could see the future.
