  • I don’t have this problem, but lettuce wraps are shockingly good too. A good sturdy lettuce, sliced turkey, smoked cheddar and some chipotle mayo (canned chipotle en adobo, pureed, just mix some of it into mayonnaise to make a spread.) Onion if you have it. I don’t understand why it’s good, it sounds like nonsense but I do this when I don’t have time to make bread, but do have good lettuce or homegrown lettuce in the garden. It is delicious and feels good to eat.

Oh I know exactly what caused this.

The women who hover instead of sitting on the toilet, and leave their pee all over the seat because they are absolutely without empathy for anyone else on the face of the earth. If you are so OCD you cannot touch the seat, for fuck’s sake at least kick it up out of the way with your foot.

  • I did try taking magnesium- a few times over the years, but it gives me migraines. Like if I take it I wake up the next morning with a migraine. Which is considerably more painful than a leg cramp. Could look for foods with more of it, though, I guess. Good idea anyway, that is plausible.

  • I eat a balanced diet with plenty of fruit and veg, don’t smoke, drink moderately (1 drink 3 days a week) work out regularly and still get these. The worst is in yoga, when my feet cramp and I can’t do something. Calves in bed close second.

I thought it was from drinking or fasting but there seems no correlation. Age, maybe.

  • I trained (for lack of a better word) my husband to wash the cast iron without wrecking the finish. He used to leave it soaking, I didn’t freak out but told him that was bad for them and he could just toss them into the oven dirty if needed and I’d deal with them (like you, I am the cook not the clean) but then he’d want to make eggs or something and the pan would be dirty so he asked how to. I got a chainmail scrubber and he loves doing it now because he loves the chainmail scrubber. Like - I will sometimes use soap on mine because I can judge the finish but he will not put soap now, will only scrape and has begun to love the pans too, after so many years he realizes because they never wear out just get better.

I did have to reset a couple of mine once, burn off the seasoning and sand them and restore and yes they looked like this picture. It was terrifying but they got great again. Such durable goods they are!

  • Oven fries we do make, unpeeled organic Russet potatoes in olive oil and salt. I’d file those under minimally processed. Not even as processed as the sourdough bread I make.

But the delicious fries fro McDonald’s that are so far removed from being a potato seem more processed.

Ultra -processed I thought was like a Twinkie or Pringles or a frozen packaged dinner. Those sort of foods I have maybe once a month if you count diet coke, but only ever that occasional diet coke and at Halloween my kids save me the mini Milky Way Midnight if they get any. So not none, but approaching none.

  • There’s processed, and then there’s Processed. When I make bread, it’s a processed food, it’s not just whole wheats. Except for fruit, most of what I eat is processed, but not much Processed.

French fries are so delicious though. Chips and chips are my junk food.

  • Bad experiences. No experience at my age would be a very bad sign. With my husband, we each had one crazy ex, then he had a couple of two year relationships that weren’t bad just sort of ran their course. Apparently when he met me he knew it could work out long term but I was afraid he was only good for two years, so just took it kinda slow, not sex-wise but relationship-wise. Waited two years to move in together (we both had kids so it was a good idea regardless) then he started making noise about getting married, I told him he could ask after we’d lived together two years.

Best relationship of my life so far, 12 years in, we are both well aware how good we have it, because we have both had the bad times. His kids won’t even talk to their mom - in the divorce the courts gave him custody not just of his kids, but his step kids too, that is how bad she got, and she has not improved. My ex’s mom said if it came to it she would argue her son should not even have visitation, that’s how bad he got (we weren’t married so that part was easier). He has improved when he quit drinking, thank God and now sometimes hangs out, like at holidays, parties, etc.

So I would argue for experience use but caution. Not someone with a string of crazy exes.

  • My regular shampoo is Malibu C Hard Water Wellness, it is not too harsh and works so well in our water. Not Pert cheap but can get it for around $30 a liter usually and that lasts me a looong time. I love that stuff. Doesn’t dry out my hair, does clean and rinses clean.
