Yeah, there’s lots of places with rampant toxicity. I was just comparing reddit and lemmy, and I consider the Federated nature of lemmy to help prevent (not necessarily stop) toxicity from growing.
I’m not an expert on this whole Federated thing, but to me, it sounds like if one community is having problems with another, they can just disassociate and not have to deal with it anymore.
True, but Reddit had the right conditions for toxicity to grow and begin to run rampant. Lemmy, with its decentralized nature, should limit the spread of any toxic communities.
Unfortunately, this is exactly what is turning (and has been turning) the US into a shithole country.
Another reason why I’m glad I made the switch to Lemmy.
I worked at home depot, and our manager made people sign a form before having a Hi-Lo load a pallet of floor tile into their truck because it would cause their suspension to bottom out. They’d do it, and drive off with zero leeway on their shocks.
We had one guy come in bragging about how his super-expensive hydraulic suspension could handle it. We loaded 2 pallets of tile into his truck bed. I bet he felt every little crack in the road driving to the job site.
Wouldn’t the fart bubbles make the pee go everywhere? Like air bubbles in a garden hose when you first turn it on.
If you aren’t ready to fully commit to installing it on a hard drive, you could probably make a live USB stick of Linux. There are installers built to run on windows that will install Linux onto a USB drive, which you can boot from after turning off your PC. That way, you don’t need to worry about wiping or resetting an old computer just to see if you like it.
Unfortunately, most Windows users are not tech savy and will never move to Linux, regardless of how user-friendly Linux becomes. It would take large-scale retailers switching their computers to have Linux pre-installed instead of Windows before any meaningful transition happens.
I think we’ve all been guilty of this one. At least I have.
They’re against pornography, not prostitutes. There’s a difference, I guess.
There are some things we don’t have to imagine, because everybody has experienced licking it. One such example is OP’s mom.
It’s just different scammers now.
Every day, my work computers force a shutdown-update, take 20 minites, fail the update, recover from the failed update, and then force a 24-hour timer to do it again that I can’t turn off. IT doesn’t care.
I got grandfathered into YouTube Music since I was using Google Music when it got shut down. While not as good as Google Music, YT Music works well for me and has been building playlists suited to what I want to listen to. Plus, some lesser known local artists that only have their music on YouTube as video uploads will still show up on YouTube Music. I haven’t really tried any other serious streaming platforms, and only YT Music and Spotify natively sync to my car with maps.
Is it ham? No, it’s beef. Is it steamed? No, it’s grilled. So then, what do you call it? Steamed ham.
I’ve found the problem with this is people over-hyping it. Just casually suggest it with one or two reasons why you like it.
*If you aspire to get everyone in the world to adore all the same things you adore, then you’ll sift out the people that don’t and be left with good friends who do.
You’ve ruined this for me, while at the same time making it so much better.
