I got it to work properly, would like to message from that isntance but this post isn’t federated
The manager doesn’t really eork for me for some reason
Calvin and habs also made a youtube short about this story which is quite funny
I can always get a different domain and host it again from the start, but i got one now
I was talking more about dyndns in my router but i think you mean something different. Could you explain what dns records are please?
I have no real prior self hosting experience just some starter projects for raspi, but now I’m a bit more determined as i saw how many people are ready to help me from this thread
Thank you so much the ones from the docs just confused me even more. Does NGinx work on the same device or is that just useless
Yeah, i want to do it as a challenge for myself and maybe a teaching experience. I have tried a few times today and i always got stuck on putting the thing together in docker because all the tutorials are too old or they aren’t complete. I am unsure in a few topics about the DNS and setup thing but i think i might try to do it again tomorrow after the frustration of failure of today is gone and i have some more motivation. Is it okay if i just ask my questions to you directly in this thread?
Do you mean DynDNS with the automatic updates?
Yeah i noticed the issue, i was just talking about maybe having an instace to just experiment or just to make the main instances less crowded. I wanted to make a personal instance just for me but it reached the limit of my current knowledge so now I’m stuck. I wanted to do it on a single Raspberry pi but it somehow doesn’t work, but that’s off topic. The moderation of the own instance is entirely another issue that you have to think about when trying to make a big instance
Making your own instance is easier than you would expect you just need a capable server if you want it to grow
It feels safer as there are a few sites with a good reputation which is just easier to find which makes me feel safer. Idk if it is really safer than with software.
I’m pretty new and extremely cautious with pirated software, i still need to find the precautions i have to take, luckily pirating games is much safer and easier than pirating software
Or a vm
Is it smart to test if it is malicious in a vm first?
Is your community overview morking, for me it always gives an error recently
Maybe it’s 2x1TB in a casing
That would be anhang, wouldn’t it?
