And the ease of repair, too. I have experience repairing laptops and phones, but even so, a lot of phones are just too much trouble for me.
Historically, my phone batteries become nearly unusable after 3 years. Several of my old phones would still be usable (with extended support from LineageOS) if I could replace the batteries, but the labor cost is prohibitive. It doesn’t make sense to spend $200 on a battery replacement when the phone is barely worth half that.
I miss the Nexus 4.
This is Kaspersky, so the only answer you’re going to get from them is “use Kaspersky Premium”.
The only non-Play apps they mention in their report are modified versions of otherwise-clean apps (like Spotify or Minecraft). They didn’t mention anything on F-Droid or other app stores.

Not really new; this has been the case with all the Tensor chips. I kind of assumed Google was going to step up their game at some point, but I don’t think Samsung can produce chips on par with TSMC. Google is switching to TSMC for next year’s Tensor 5, so maybe we’ll see a big jump then.
That said, I don’t think it’s a deal-breaker. I’m running a Pixel 7 and it’s “fine”. The Pixel 6 had bad throttling/overheating problems, but the 7 and 8 are better. We’ll see what the Big Problem is with the 9 series. There’s always something.
Same on macOS. Apple has “case-sensitive HFS+” as an option for UNIX compatibility (or at least they used to) but actually running a system on it is a bad idea in general.

Do you remember which features specifically were missing? It might be something I haven’t used. For me it was a pretty straightforward upgrade from version 12.
The only problem I ran into was that adding widgets was a little funky when changing the grid size. I think I had to add the widgets before changing the grid size (I use a 5x10 grid) or they didn’t align correctly. I encountered similar problems with many of the launchers I tried.
Exactly. My nightstand has a plain ol’ USB 2.0 slow charger, which is plenty to get it fully charged overnight. On light days, that’s all I need.
I have a USB-PD charger on my desk and in my travel bag, which I’ll use to get me through the day as needed, but my phone only takes 20W max IIRC. There’ve certainly been times when traveling when I wished it could charge much much faster, because I don’t have access to power for long stretches of time.
I used to have a OnePlus phone, which used SuperVOOC instead of just USB-PD. Much faster and I never had heat issues. I’d love to see SuperVOOC adopted more outside of China. I think OnePlus is the only brand with SuperVOOC sold in my country.
LawnChair is the best option I’ve tried that has a similar design to Nova.
I’ve tried at least a couple dozen launchers since Nova got bought. Most of them are either half-baked or have a very different design (e.g. based on radial menus or text-only lists). If you’re into minimalism, there are a lot of good options. If you want a full-featured icon grid that behaves more or less like Nova, LawnChair is it.
I’m running LawnChair 14 Beta now. You can get it off the GitHub. Last I checked, the version on Google Play was very old.
It’s worth mentioning that with a large generational gap, the newer low-end CPU will often outperform the older high-end. An i3-1115G4 (11th gen) should outperform an i7-4790 (4th gen), at least in single-core performance. And it’ll do it while using a lot less power.

I had a moment at the start of the episode where I thought I had pulled up the wrong season. It felt like I’d seen it before, especially with the outdated subject matter. Not many people care about NFTs anymore. Not many people ever really did. And they didn’t even bother to create any context for why this was happening 1000 years in the future (unlike in, say, the global warming episode).
I didn’t hate it, but it seemed odd. Perhaps this was originally intended for a much earlier release? Wasn’t this originally presented as a single season split into two releases? Now they’re officially called season 11 and season 12 on Hulu.
