I kinda wish more federated services also had built in, optional support for directly paying the people hosting the service and infrastructure.

Between 7digital, HD tracks, Qobuz store, and my local physical media store, Tidal has never made sense to me. For $15 or $20 a month I can buy and own every track and album I want.
I use bottom-of-the-barrel Pandora for streaming when I am working out or washing dishes. That’s it.
Hey some of us also use 7digital and Qobuz store. ;)
If you go Android, I recommend a sony phone. Unlockable bootloaders, microsd, headphone jack, exceptional audio, good camera. And no fucking notch or hole cut out of the damn screen!
I even recently replaced the battery in my Xperia 1 iii.
When your phone is no longer locked down and working against you, it’s amazing how much more you can - and will - do with it, and the extra storage space quickly becomes most appreciated.
They’re trashing our rights!
Hack the planet!
I don’t know, I see Nilay’s question as “why aren’t you doing what’s ethical?” and I always welcome that line of questioning.
Or when all the supermarkets in your area are owned by Kroger?
Fuck Musk and all that, but some number of people are always going to get killed.
That’s easy to say, but do you want to be one of the people who gets killed? I don’t.
Probably because they have unresolved emotional issues and take it out on other drivers.
Oh they absolutely do.
Besides guns, motor vehicles are probably the most physically powerful things most of us (in the US) have the freedom to control in our lives. And there are almost no restrictions on allowing someone to drive when they can’t or won’t regulate their emotional state.
Judging by how close people follow me on the Interstate, I have a feeling most drivers think this but only a small percentage can do it effectively.
And judging by how close 9 out of 10 pickup truck drivers follow tailgate me on the interstate even when I am doing 10-15 over, I have a feeling most don’t care and would prefer to run me over in their lifted Rams and SuperDutys.
Yes they do. Millions of them do.
This made me wonder though…the car obviously has cameras on the outside, and there’s also a way to communicate with the support team from inside…so is it a stretch to think that these cars could be auto-recording everything that’s happening inside the car?
Should we - as riders - have any expectation of privacy in a car with no driver?

There’s dozens of us!
And then there are people like me, who aren’t opposed to paying for access in theory, but will never be okay with having the videos I watch be tied to an account. It’s inconvenient and I don’t trust Google with my watch history, even when the option is turned off.
Also I wouldn’t pay until: Youtube stops showing ads for hate groups; stops its manipulative recommendations and push towards right-leaning and extremist content; stops manipulating creators to all make the same kind of video in order to please the algorithm; removes hate content and extremist content; stops auto-flagging and removing fair-use content.
The law bans platforms from sending notifications without permission from parents to minors between midnight and 6 a.m., and between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. on weekdays from September through May, when children are typically in school.
Wait, they hardcoded the school season and school hours into the law? What about schools that don’t follow those schedules?
I like your style.
