Change for the sake of change. At least it seems to be in a good direction.
I don’t understand why the control panel UI wasn’t modernized instead? Would that really be unfeasible? I think it still might have been less work than to maintain 2 coexistent “settings/control panel” apps and migrate from one to another. Sometimes you have to throw out the old code base and start from scratch. But if you do so shouldn’t you rather distrubute the result when your finished and not in a half-baked compromise-like state?

I agree. Most custom ROMs already have such option.
There are new solutions constantly developed such as PlayIntegrityNEXT. With some effort you can get rooted Android 14 device with custom ROM pass Play Integrity attestation.
So it was a lie to not lose potential sales
It’s sad, but only too tiny fraction of the phone buyers care about unlocking the bootloader for the company to be economically meaningful to care about.
It’s just a design system from Google: https://m3.material.io/
This is official from MiXplorer XDA thread.
Oh and an android TV version while you’re at it
It could hardly get better than SmartTubeNext.
FOSS! 🤤
A think that a lot of devs take “themed icons” as a gimmick feature on top and rather focus on app stability and other features, or they just don’t care because they don’t see it as a deal-breaker in any means.
YouTube has gone far from Material Design long time ago. The thin ugly icons are just one from many of the examples.
I don’t know what everybody sees in circle to search. Isn’t it just Google Lens which you can get on any other phone? I can make a screenshot and share ot with Google Lens to get the same result right?
