Hello, my name is Cris. :)
I like being nice to people on the internet and looking at cool art stuff
Once again, one of the very rare few areas where ai isn’t a completely shitty solution: tasks that are worthwhile and important, but that require labor no one is willing to pay for.
Others include translation, transcription, and image descriptions. Things people won’t put resources into but that should happen anyway
The only problem is that these have nothing to do with why massive companies are investing in this tech. If AI didn’t enable the equivalent of money laundering for intellectual labor, the billionaires wouldn’t give a shit
For me, it’s just that something about the delivery and setup feel like they communicate I’m about to experience a very different kind of joke, and so the non-sequitur “I’m piss” catches me completely off guard in a way that makes me cackle
I think humor that depends on seting up and then subverting expectations with something dumb or nonsensical is often very hit or miss. But that sense of humor is increasingly popular, especially among gen z
You opt in by following the bridgy fed account for your platform, so for Mastodon that’d be: https://bsky.brid.gy/bsky.brid.gy
There’s one on each platform, and when you follow it it’ll create you a bluesky/mastodon counterpart and send you the link to that bridged account
No, not unless the person whose posts you want to see opted into bridging their account.
If both parties bridge their accounts they can follow eachother, or if one person bridges their account others can follow them.
I don’t think you can see boosts of stuff not on your platform though, and I don’t know how interacting with a bridged account works if both of you are bridged. If only the person you’re following is bridged they definitely won’t see it, but I don’t know if that changes if you’re both bridged
Yeah, I was just making a dumb joke cause I like bad jokes :)
It’s a pun. Post as in power on self test, and post as in post to social media.
He seemed to manage it just fine, it shows up for me with no issue
Edit: /j
I’m not sure which instances might need it most, but the idea is mostly that you donate to the one that hosts your account, that way you’re offsetting the operating costs they pay to host your posts, uploaded images, comments, etc.
That sounds fucking ass, I’m sorry man
🫂
I appreciate you mentioning Brightside, I’m not awake during the day due to a sleep disorder so access to therapy is really hard for me, but I absolutely do not wanna use better help
I should go look into them
So is it slightly less holy, or slightly less water?
The opposite, they filter blue wavelengths, (and some green), preventing light exposure from telling my brain it’s time to be awake :)
I have delayed sleep phase disorder, which makes sleep happen much later for me than is typical, so things that can make it easier to fall asleep a bit sooner can be helpful
If you’re interested in the science, about 2 hours before we’d naturally feel drowsy and wanna go to sleep the body hits what’s called your DLMO, or ‘dim light melatonin onset’, which is the point in your circadian rhythm when your alertness starts to drop off for the day as your body starts to secrete melatonin that accumulates in your system until you feel sleepy. But as the name suggests, this only happens when that biological process isn’t delayed by light exposure, and it’s most sensitive to blue wavelengths (technically it’s a bell-curve sort of distribution where the green side of blue is most activating, and it’s less activating the more you stray to either side of that wavelength). If I understand correctly light exposure similarly triggers your body to pull melatonin out of your system, essentially waking you up if you just got up for the day, or are feeling sleepy at bedtime.
Light intensity also matters, which these glasses do less to help with, but they really cut down on the wavelengths that are most disruptive to feeling sleepy. Because my sleep is SO late, the easiest way for me to vote is to go right before my bedtime when the sun is up, which can be hugely destabilizing to my already pretty crap sleep schedule 😅
So the glasses here made it slightly easier to go home from voting and being out in the sunlight, and try to start winding down for sleep I’m hoping to also get some of those silly looking fitover sunglasses to help minimize light intensity, and then I’ll have the option to take them off when I go inside running daylight errands before sleep, as that’s when I have access to places during open hours
Thank you 🥹❤️
Oh shit, that’s super interesting! Really appreciate you sharing that, now I wanna go read more about that some time!
I’m fucking gobsmacked. We live in a dark timeline but at least it’s funny as fuck sometimes 😅
I voted early a few days ago!
Forgive my sleep deprived face and weird-ass glasses, I’m not normally awake during the day and the glasses help with my sleep disorder 😅
If you see this feel free to post your voting pictures or “I voted” stickers, seeing them makes me happy!
Your sauce will still have less sugar than others, but if I understand correctly, simmering for hours will break down the more complex sugars in tomatoes into simpler sugars resulting in a somewhat sweeter taste
I think cooking does also dull the percieved acidity of food though, hence lemon juice or other acids often being added at the end so as to keep the brightness. But I’m not actually sure if the pH changes or if it’s just a change in the tartness we associate with acidity, maybe someone can chime in with more information :)
Thats fair. A na miata is basically my dream car, I hope to someday daily one in spite of being from the 90s 😅
