Yes, it’s called a bootloader. It needs to be unlocked before unsigned firmware can be ran on the phone. Unlocking the bootloader is simple and the the guides with show you how to do it.

I would assume because it was a one off type thing. People liked open board buy wanted swipe typing so it was forked and it was added. The apk is available on github.
I tried out FlorisBoard earlier this year and was having the same issues. I am currently using this and it works more or less like gboard but without the G.
Google makes it very easy to flash Pixels back to stock through Chrome browser. Recently I was trying to flash /e/os to my Pixel 4a 5G. I bricked it 6 times and still can’t get it to install but I was able to flash back to stock easily. I recommend Graphene OS on the Pixel of you want to start taking back your life and start removing Google from it.
While I understand the appeal, those are 2 features that I don’t need. Having the option would be nice though.
A pixel with custom firmware that removes the Google is my preferred phone choice.
I’m replying with open board, let’s see how it does.
I use Gboard because it just works. I would like to move to a FOSS keyboard but every one I’ve tried become frustrating to use.
I’m running my own server on a linode. I’ve got it on the cheapest tier which is $5 a month. I’m not quite sure what I’m going to do when the 25GB gets full, I’ll have to find out the best way to delete old posts and pictures.
What they mean is the only way to play these games is emulation instead of being able to purchase them from the company that owns the rights. That’s bad because many people either do no know about emulation, do not know how to emulate, don’t want to figure out how to emulate, don’t want to involve themselves in legal gray areas (downloading ROMs is illegal afterall) etc… Basically, the companies that have the rights to these games are just squatting on them and not ever rereleasing them again. Those people above can never or will never experience those games. Some people want to just pay the company and play an old game that they heard about so they can’t. As far as preservation goes, the archivists have that covered but there just isn’t a solution for the average Joe to play older games that are no longer sold physically or digitally.
I remember when everyone was simping over her when she was cracking Hogwarts Legacy but no one cared once the crack was released.
Yes, Obtanium notifies me there is a new update shortly after it’s uploaded to GitHub. Then I just have to click update and it updates. Super simple and helpful.
I’ve been using it for Thunder nightlies and it’s worked great
I actually used grapheneos for a few months this year but I switched back to stock android about a month ago for unrelated reasons. I may go back eventually but for now I’m good.
I’ve never used sync or boost so I’m good sticking with Thunder because it’s pretty much exactly what I need.
Too many people don’t know what it actually means.
