When I installed it it suggested turning that service off onvthe host. If you search online there are many suggestions on shutting off that stuff so 53 is left for pihole

It could have been earlier? i tried Ubuntu around 2012. I didn’t know how to get rid of the Amazon stuff, and it turned me off Linux…thinking why use this OS that is ad based…wasn’t till 2017 when W10 made our computers slow that I tried linux again.
I guess i was meaning compared to DOS but modern Windows, where stupid stuff is broken, and they care more about ads than creating a clean OS
It still amazes me how well thought out unix was for the era when computing was in its infancy. But I guess that is what you get with computer science nerds from Universities and a budget for development based on making a product the goal, not quarterly profit the goal.
What kind of diagram are you going to make?
Upscayl app does this quite well without chagpt ai stuff
I have seen both. Typically you expect somebody self hosting to be about privacy and freedom, and thus choosing Linux, but there are WinFans too
Apparently crafted webpage could be a vector. Router has to block fragmented packages also. The issue is non savvy people get shipped a router with Ipv6 firewall turned off (as a shit default setting) and don’t know to check it. And as it is a worm type it can come in with otger binaries
Of course, but for a person with all machines on network having same user name and password it could become a larger problem
There was an article that many Routers were shipped with Ipv6 firewall off, and less savvy users would never know to check
I was referring to the latest CVE for ipv6 where an attacker just sends a flood of IPv6 packets which puts things like WindowsOS into a mode for remote code execution, even via webpage. Windows remedy right now is turnoff all ipv6 capability, as they don’t have a fix yet

But if they do, they have every password for all your stuff. hopefutlly you have Ipv6 disabled
There are studies of men growing up with sisters are more likely to act in a woman’s best interest, than the stereotypical macho douchebag persona
You have to avoid the raid types is lists as not ready. Looks like facebook uses btrfs without issues
Part of it will be because an uodate needs a restart of an app, a service or reboot(kernel) to actually update. People think the update finishing means everything is now running new code in memory, but it will hold old code till it is allowed to use the new stuff. Not sure on a deb system but with zypper ps -s it tells you exactly which packages are not running latest updated packages and need to be “released” before it can
As a linux user, updates often need services manually restarted, or a reboot to update the kernel…problem is many linux users think running an update means you are running all the latest, but you arent if apps are still open or services still running, linux keeps running what you had installed and won’t run the new till you close your app or shut a service
Yeah here dollar store purchases are final sale, no returns, and aliexpress really depends on the seller. Some good stuff there, some just scammy junk. And many manufacturers will skimp on purpose, and say they are certified without actually getting a certification or testing.
Zorin looks really nice and clean. I’m still waiting for them to release the Grid management tool…if that is actually going to happen
