Thanks!
Thanks!
Yeah I’ve heard that xwayland is not great. But I did not have any factorial scaling, just normal 100%, nevertheless I did test esr and the standard one, though the standard is definitely a flatpack. Also just the text on the settings window was blurry so I don’t think that was the issue.
Do you remember making any tweaks? I had Debian 12 with Gnome and could not figure out how to fix blurred fonts with 1440p display.
Man, I just installed debian 12 with wayland (Gnome or KDE can’t remember) to play around and get instant headache from blurry fonts with my 1440p display with no scaling (Firefox and settings window are blurry af). No clue how to fix it, tried out few of the things I found online and none of them works.
Next plan is to try another distro and hope for the best.
Man, I wish I could chromecast netflix from my phone but apparently Netflix now requires you to use their app.
I should get smarttube though.
That is kinda disappointing. I had a distaste for Brave after all the initial controversy regarding the ad blocking, which only got worse from the crypto crap they now have in the browser.
I’ll still keep paying for Kagi, but this is a step in the wrong direction in my opinion. Let’s hope at least the results get noticeably better.
Something like docuwiki maybe, it looks like Wikipedia so everyone would immediately feel at home there.
Waaaaaait I’ve never thought of using it for podcasts. Been using Pocket Cast but maybe I should take a look.
Interesting, thanks!
Really? Hmm interesting. Maybe I should take another peek at syncthing. Default settings or have you limited the sync frequency?
Oh yeah if it is integrated into the application then it’s much easier for sure.
People always mention nextcloud when it comes to syncing for e.g., Obsidian, but how do people use it with mobile? They never seem to actually use the local storage for anything, meaning you can’t map a local folder for use in the application (assuming it does not have the option to use cloud services). I know thay syncthing does use actual local folders, but doesn’t it use a fuck-ton of battery? I remember trying it a few years back and just could not due to it being a battery hog. Also tried the fork which helped but not by much.
I wish I could just use rsync but nooooo. Yes yes rooting is “possible”, which might just break shit or you need to use some masking to hide root from application to and jesus christ why the fuck is everything so annoyingly locked down god dammit. Rant over.
Havant tried termux + rsync tho.
Good luck!
Don’t sweat it.
I remember looking into this as well like a year ago. I also found the same info and started to look into ssds, consumer and enterprise grade and after all that I realised that most of it is just useless fuzzing about. Yes it is an interesting rabbit hole in which I spent a week probably. In the end one simple thing nullifies most of this: you can track writes per day and SSD health. It is not like you need to somehow made a guess when the drives fail. You do not. Keep track of the health and writes per day and you will get a good sense of how your system behaves. Run that for 6 months and you are infinitely wiser when it comes to this stuff.
Have been using Niagara launcher for a while. Quite a different feeling than normal launcher but really great. You can swipe up from any app icon to either open a folder of more apps or attach widgets to a small pop up screen. Super handy and I love it.
Fuck I kept reading “Android Auto” for some reason and kept wondering why the hell would people need to read pdfs while driving.
I triggered it while driving when I tried to increase volume on my phone through the pocket. Accidentally pressed power button and almost shat myself due to rhe 911 call and siren sound through the car radio.
I kinda want Google to just cancel YouTube. Shit would be hilarious. Also sad and we would lose soooooo much information. But still I kinda just want to see what happens. What new players enter the game, will the monopoly be broken? Though I’m sure Microsoft, Amazon, and other big boys would roll their own versions of YouTube and effectively there would not be a difference, just a small amount of fragmentation.
But still…
I’d be scared to have an account in something with .zip domain. Could be that some big players start to block that domain (Google, isps).
Though I guess you just make a new account if shit hits the fan.
I and my fiancee play Pandemic with our friends on occasion. We’ve played the game a lot and know how to do things, and our friends have basically never played it.
I low key hate it that my fiancee doesn’t let our friends do what they want. Instead, she keeps playing for them: “Ok you should go there and cure that one block and use that card to fly there so you (points next person) can trade that card to him next turn”. Our friends just have a blank state and go “ooohhookaay” and do it and have zero idea why.
I try to tell her that just let them play its fine if it is dumb decision, its fine if we lose. But she keeps doing it anyway! I always try to “beat her to the punch” and ask our friends what they want to do and if they don’t know maybe give few possibilities and let them decide and hope that my fiancee doesn’t interrupt lol.
