Same, but with popcorn
I literally started due to lemmy posts. I just went in order and watched TOS and TNG. Now I’m going through DS9. I’m really glad I did, because it’s amazing!
I never heard about the tildeverse before, sounds really interesting. How does one choose which tilde to join, though? It seems to me like only cosmic.voyage has a specific theme, while the rest only differ in the OS running on the machine. Or are tildes just there to host your account, while all the interactions are done via irc?
And that “no poop challenge” that was everywhere on lemmy about a year ago. Not sure whether that was a lemmy thing or wider, as I don’t use anything besides lemmy.
I’m glad a local culture is growing here naturally, but I didn’t expect it to be beans, jeans and no poop
I know how you feel. I often find myself typing :w into notepad/word at work to save something. Or when I log into a machine that doesn’t have the vim extension in vscode I constantly type /something to search, only to realize that I actually wrote that in the file. Then using ‘u’ to undo just adds more characters and people look at me like I’m on some drugs. Just embrace it!
:wq
Exactly my experience. I often heard stories of vegans being like that, but I never ever saw it so I thought it was just made up to belittle vegans.
Then I joined lemmy and found out that I’m apparently in favour of massacres, slavery and rape because I consume meat/milk/eggs from time to time.
I imagine the vast majority of vegans just go about their lives and resprectfully discuss the ethics of animal consumption when the topic comes up, but these loud militant members really make vegans look bad and they sure as hell make it so that even less people consider going vegan
This image always comes to mind:
The lemmy community “Fuck AI” literally has
A place for all those who loathe machine-learning
as a description.
Yup, that’s me. We booted into safe mode, tried navigating into the CrowdStrike folder and boom: permission denied.
In what way? I use it from time to time to get movies and series. Is there any downside compared to other methods?
Genuine question, I’m not too familiar with the pirate world beyond pirate bay.
Yeah, I forgot about that. It varies from company to company, I get exactly nothing above my standard salary each month lol
In Serbia as well. Whenever someone mentions an annual salary, I have to divide it by 12 to get some sense out of it, because we only talk about the monthly.
I’m so traumatized by that video that now, 17 or so years later, I had to carefully scroll your comment in case the picture you posted was the screaming face
Seconding this. I started doing 10-15 mins of yoga when I get up and around 30 mins when I get home from work a few weeks ago and I haven’t had back pain since.
Posts from this community popping up from time to time was actually what pushed me to start watching a few weeks ago. So, a big thank you to you all!
Why put effort into anything when in 100/1000/10000 years everything I love and care about will be dead, gone, and forgotten?
I had a slightly different question: what’s the point of doing anything if it’ll end? In other words: anything achievable is not worth doing.
I haven’t really found an answer to this, it just stopped bothering me, though one potential answer was: happiness and wisdom. Wisdom is unachievable because there’s always more to understand, and happiness is not a stable state since we’re hardwired not to be perpetually happy because we wouldn’t do anything if we were. Thus those two things can be chased always, they don’t end, and then you die. After that you have no more problems.

I used https://bandcamp.com/ a couple of times. You can buy albums and get a link to download mp3 files.
What’s wrong with Jerboa? Genuinely asking, I’ve been using it since I discovered Lemmy 1.5 months ago, and only had a problem once when the instances were down due to a critical vulnerability bug or something that happened last month, when I had to manually log out and log back in to fix it.
Some C/C++ extension process once reduced my laptop to a crawl, and I couldn’t close VS Code, so I killed the process through the task manager, simple enough, right?
Long story short, I started smelling burning plastic and saw that, somehow, there was no VS Code process, but the extension had a separate process that was still running at full speed doing idk what. I almost burned myself when I picked up my laptop. So I’m not very happy when I see VS Code
