This isnt my phrase but I quiet like it: “People are way to used that everything on the internet is free”. (Its in one of Mental Outlow’s videos)

Some this is exaspecially true for software/products/websites that are runned by just one person or a very small teams. They just have to make money in some way or there are not able to pay there bills at the end of the month. So id they ask for 2€ a month for supporting the product I can totally agree to it and who uses th product for free and have money to support it, then do it.

For big companies its a total other conversarion. For example google offers every google service for free (as my knowledge go) and if you need more then you can but it (google one). They can easly handel the cost, but I think in thr YT part its a bit critical. I have any information about the cost that Google have to pay for YT but I think its a LOT. Many cant imagen how much storage they have to pay, they have probably to buy PB (1000xTB) ober PB. To just save the videos and 4k videos can take a lot of storage therefore they are asking for a fee to pay to let epople watch 4k because it is so expansiv. But they dont just have to save the videos but also backup the videos and thats the part whst need the lost storage. Idk which RAID lvl they are running but I would say 5 or 6 (maybe?). That mean that videos are storred on several HDD so if on breaks the viddo isnt lost and the higher lvl of RAID can lost several disks before losing the actual video. So to come back I can understand that they are charging for YT and some features.
