UGH honestly one thing i despise most about American culture (and whatever culture OP is from, apparently) is the way people seem to have a straight up panic attack over phone calls yet hold doors for people. the phone thing would be fine in itself, go ahead! my real issue is the fucking doors. stop holding doors for me!!! i’m not a fuckin toddler, I can do it myself and I dont need your bitchy attitude when i dont thank you for something i didnt want.

the phone thing is actually what really pisses me off about it though. yall can’t handle a simple phone call but you insist on holding doors for strangers? fuck off! either hold doors and pick up the phone, or stop doing both. these things ARE related dammit!

im so mad that people hold doors for me. if you’re confused that’s good. rant over carry on have a great day.

I get angry when cars stop for me when I could easily and safely cross the street after they pass without me having to wait more than 2 seconds so why even bother pretending to be nice? But now they stop for me and I need to hurry up so they don’t have to wait too long and it stresses me out! Just drive, there is no law that says you should stop here for pedestrians! I can handle this myself.

I agree. I would WAY rather wait the extra 5 seconds and then walk safely across without traffic.

I really hate it when the LAST car of many does this. Especially when I have kids with me. I don’t want them to walk in front of cars for one thing. Because it is less safe. Now I have to trust you. And many cars have started going again while I try to get my child ( that I just told to wait until the cars pass ) to go in front of the one that stopped.

If you are the last of several cars, PLEASE just keep going.

      these thing ARE related

And domestic moggies are related to lions, but if you have to pick a fight, you’re not picking the lion.

A telephone call generally involves many minutes and many words, which many people find a drain on mental resources. Holding a door, while an interaction, is not a verbal conversation nor is it particularly lengthy.

      Meow.

The point isn’t that you’re somehow lesser than that person, it’s less work overall for someone who’s already opened a door to keep it open for the next person if they’re close than it is for the next person to open it

Humans, being naturally social and helpful creatures (generally), will tend to do this subconsciously

and I dont need your bitchy attitude when i dont thank you for something i didnt want.

I legitimately have never heard of this happening. I can believe it did to you once, or that someone you knew did it a lot because they were a prick, but I doubt it’s a regular problem at all.

      these things ARE related dammit!

No, they’re not? I’ve held open soooooo many doors with my headphones on and blasting music, not a word said between me and anyone else. Phone calls a literally ALL speech
