The dealership frame ended up causing an annoying rattle on mine whenever the car hit a bump. Having it on there meant the license plate was less secure and it would shake in response to the slightest disturbance. Even closing a door would cause an audible rattle from the rear.
Needless to say I’ve also removed the frame from mine.
That’s funny because mine did the opposite. Without the frame, mine has been rattling. I kept wondering where that sound came from and then one day I played with the license plate and realized it wasn’t tightened fully. Well, it is, but there’s a gap that is causing it to move.
So while I haven’t put the dealership one back on, I actually threw it away, I’m going to have to get some frame for the first time to fix this annoying sound. I usually just go without any frame for my license plate.

Might be able to cushion it with some automotive exterior foam tape. Definitely an inexpensive solution.
