The only things missing from the Github repo are the game assets (kinda like half-life), but those can be obtained by buying the game on steam.

Multiplayer crack? You just need the clean files and Goldberg, why bother searching for a crack?

Not sure what you mean by Goldberg, but building the game from the source on github results in a build with steam networking, which means connecting to servers just gives an error “steam authentication failed”

Goldberg emulator. Open source, you put it to replace steam’s api dll, and you can configure it for multiplayer. So you just need clean steam files of the game, and an properly configured goldberg, and the multiplayer works.

Configuration can be a bit of a hassle I guess, but less than editing the source of the game and compiling it.

Oh thats cool. Does that mean my friends whom I want to play with need to install this too even if they own the game?

Edit: Ok I got it working, that was surprisingly easy, no hassle, just drag and drop. Looks like we both have to be on the same network (makes sense due to the nature of the emulator). I wonder how much delay a VPN like Hamachi would add, since I already have terrible ping from living in the countryside.

You can just use port forwarding, and use the broadcast_ips (if I’m not misremembering the name) setting on your friend’s config to try to connect to your public IP.

If you are on windows, the experimental version of the emulator has an overlay (a bit like steam) that allows you to see if you are detecting the other player a bit more easily, and to invite them with just a click (like on steam).

Since it is then direct connection you shouldn’t have any overhead lag unlike with hamachi and the like.

I am currently using a prepaid since I’m abroad, so I can’t port forward unfortunately. I installed Goldberg emulator and used hamachi, the lag was really bad but not unbearable and overall I enjoyed the game. Also I’m not on windows, so I’ll just have to wait until the overlay thingy gets ported to linux.

Your friend cannot port forward either? I guess you could try to setup a wireguard link between you and your friend too, ahould be faster than hamachi.

Unfortunately that’s not really viable, since there’s a heatwave currently sweeping over europe (thanks climate change <3) and his room is at 30 degrees centigrade even without any servers running.
