I like being helpful and productive too, but I’m not naive enough to confuse helping my company make profits with actually helping society.
I work because otherwise I would starve and die. That is the sole and only reason I work.
I’m in it for the donuts, myself.
I am in it for the stuff I can buy for the money I earn.
Depends on the work. If you have customers using your products for a good cause, it’s pretty rewarding. Also depends how you’re treated.
It’d feel better if I was paid the full value of my labour, and if the ownership didn’t keep trying to hamstring the people trying to do good with products I help make by locking them behind weirder and weirder licenses.
